Free The Children Club

The club that I attended is called Free the Children. I checked out this club because my sister has been in the club for a couple years now and is very involved. Ever since the school year began she had been bugging me to join the club because she thought I would enjoy it. I also checked it out because some of my friends had talked about wanting to check it out and I agreed to go with them. I went to one of their meetings during the summer with my sister and some of my friends, but my friends got bored so we left and went to a park to play football.

The club was started by Cecelia who is also my sisters’ friend, and she started it in grade 10. She started it because she was passionate about helping children across the globe who have less. She had heard about a company named “Free the Children” who was passionate about the same things she was. So she named the club after the company. The club is almost like an extension of the company. They help by holding fundraisers, donating money and food, and volunteer for their own Free the Children events.
The meeting I attended was on October the 9th and was in Mr. Pococks’ room (Room 214). They hold meetings at lunch in Mr. Pococks room every Thursday. The meetings start at 11:00.

I would suggest this club because you get to meet a lot of other kids who have some of the same interests as you and they are all different ages.  It is a great opportunity to get some of your volunteer hours, and you get to see and learn about things that are happening across the globe.

  1. i liked how you knew so much about the club like who started it and why you went (because your sister been there for a long time) and its also good that you are taking advice from her because, like i told eric we know your open to ideas. so i wonder if you liked the club and you joined or if you just did not enjoy it as much.

  2. Hi Ethan, you were very informative about the club. Now I know what the Free the Children club does to help children in need. I liked how you gave some background to how the club began with your older sister and her friend, Cecilia. I am curious though about where you said you and your friends left a summer meeting because your friends were bored - did you find it boring too? Or did you follow your friends for some other reason? I would hope students choose a club for their own interests and not just that of their friends. What do you think? I also like how you advertised the club at the end by saying that the club was good for meeting new people and learning things that are happening around the world. It was a good report overall.
